Two Lefts Make A Right

This morning, our team's plan was to take things slow and adjust to a full workday with a smaller team, as well as delay working on our shoring as long as possible given Dan's delay. However, we had concerns about getting our local team on board with a slower pace today.

When we arrived, we found that the rainstorm had flooded our trench, covering most of the walls. While we had to wait for a backhoe to arrive and help drain some of the water out of the pit, which was not ideal, the extra wait reduced the amount of work we had to do without Dan's construction expertise to consult. So, while the rain was a challenge, and Dan's trouble in arriving was a challenge, they both worked together for the ultimate good of our team.

Once the water started to drain, we got some muck boots on and hopped in. While the water was still somewhat high, we were able to get all of the formwork off the walls and move onto the next step. It was a messy job, but the time in the water was like a nice beach vacation.

A highlight of the afternoon was Dan's safe arrival! Thank you to all who have been praying over his travel. We were happy to see Dan finally in Oaxaca with us, even as tired as he was. Unfortunately, his bag is currently in limbo and is unlikely to arrive in Oaxaca. So, be praying for provision and flexibility as we take care of our advisor.

Despite the challenges, out team managed to still get a lot done, and we're looking forward to a productive day tomorrow.

Here are some ways to pray for us:

  1. Benjamin, who has been working with us the past week, told us that his father wandered off last night and is currently being looked for by his family. He has dementia, and his family is hoping to find him as soon as possible.

  2. Our team is hoping to get a lot of work done tomorrow, so be praying for wisdom and diligence.

  3. Dan's suitcase is unlikely to make it to Oaxaca, but we can still pray that it does!

Here are some areas of thanksgiving:

  1. Dan arrived! Praise God for keeping him safe during a very long trek to Oaxaca.

  2. The group that left during week one landed in Harrisburg today after long delays, so thank God for their safe travels.

  3. Our team is adjusting to a new week and new dynamics.
