Hello From Oaxaca

We have landed in Oaxaca!

Thank you to everyone who prayed over safe travels. We arrived in Mexico with no problems traveling, and embraced the dry Mexican heat as we walked off the tarmac. Our first day was filled with introductions and preparation.

We started the day dropping off our stuff at our accommodations and heading right off for lunch at Trigo y Miel. There, we connected with leaders from Forward Edge and Trigo y Miel, learning about their stories and how they became involved with their ministry.

We also had the opportunity to hear about how God is working at Trigo. Currently, the school serves over 100 children a free lunch and provides over 50 with education. The site is currently working on installing more spaces that can be used as classrooms as they grow, some of which will be easily accessed thanks to the bridge we hope to install before we leave.

Speaking of the bridge, after lunch we were able to observe the work site, pictured below.

As you can see, rainfall will prove an interesting challenge for this project. A small amount of rain has the potential to pool where we'll need to get work done, and could set back our project timeline. So, if you're looking for ways to pray for us: pray for clear skies!

We spent the afternoon at Home Depot collecting any needed tools and supplies then headed into the city for a brief walk around Oaxaca's beautiful city streets. We ended the day fellowshipping with the other teams on-site over a delicious Oaxacan dinner, then headed back to our accommodations for a debrief and preparation for the next evening.

As we head into day two, pray for continued safety as we start the bridge project, as well as great weather conditions for construction. Also pray for Trigo y Miel and the children that will be coming through the center's doors while we work. God has set our path, we just have to follow it!

If you're interested in joining us in study of the word, our team will be studying the book of Philippians during the course of our trip. Tomorrow morning, we will be reading Philippians 1:1-11 and reflecting on thankfulness and prayer.

Hi everyone! The next blog will be once we arrive in the US, to give us time to pack and wrap up. Pray for safe travels, and look forward to updates and reflections on the end of our trip.
