Finishing Up

Today our team was given the morning off, as there wasn't much for us to do this morning besides rest. The construction of the bridge went perfectly on schedule, which included makeup days. So, we got to sleep later, spend some time outside, and spend more time in team devotions. Around noon, we loaded up and headed to the site.

We arrived to see the bridge still standing in all it's glory. The local team had taken the forms off the top slab, and we got to look at our completed bridge. When we started work, it was a much more relaxed pace.

Currently, the local team is working on installing two columns at the far side of the bridge for a safety gate connecting to the new classrooms. While they did that, our team got to work backfilling the front of the bridge with dirt, leveling out the road and the bridge. It was a nice change of pace to all be working on the same thing as we shoveled and packed down dirt, exchanging stories as we did.

Tomorrow, we hope to help Trigo run a power line from the established school side to the new extension side using the embedded bolts we installed on the side of the bridge. Beyond that, we're unsure of what the rest of the week will look like, so pray for opportunities to serve.

Here are some ways to pray for us:

  1. As our bridge continues to cure, pray for the local team that will remove the shoring 4 weeks from now.

  2. Pray for the rest of our time here, that we will serve well.

  3. Pray for safety and health in the last few days of the trip.

Here are some areas of thanksgiving:

  1. Our bridge is finished, and will help Trigo y Miel serve more students.

  2. Our team member who was feeling sick yesterday is doing better.

  3. The week is coming to a close with our goals having been met.

We’re so glad you had a chance to get caught up on some rest, and get to work at a more relaxed pace. We love seeing the picture of the completed bridge.

Incredibly proud and excited about this bridge and how it will be used! You guys worked hard, learned a lot, bonded with each other and new friends that if you don’t see again in this life you surely will in Heaven. God is sooo good. You got to use what you’ve learned so far which is pretty neat. I’ll continue to pray that bridge holds up at least until after you’re gone(🤣 just kidding) and for the remainder of your time in Mexico (May you be a blessing in all ways to all people) and safe travels home. I’m super proud of all of you and thanks for the blog and photos!!! This is an amazing gift to that community!…
