Catching Up

Today our team had the goal of finishing our everything we needed to get done for our concrete pour tomorrow morning. That meant that everything had to be done by the end of the day, whether we were ready or not. The rebars had to be tied, and there was still lots of work to be done on formwork.

By lunch, progress had been made, but not as much as we would have liked. The formwork took longer than expected to assemble, and longer to install. Ae neared got closer to the end of the day, what we thought would be an early day dragged on. About two hours out from the end of the day, thunder began to rumble and rain began to fall.

We rushed to put our power tools and materials away and covered, and gathered under our canopy as the rain fell. Luckily, the rain only lasted a short while, and we were able to get back to work. We finished our work for the day under a rainbow, and managed to end the day only about a half hour later than we normally would have. With all of of the formwork completed, we're back on schedule and ready for a morning pour and hopefully some time to relax tomorrow afternoon.

Here are some ways to pray for us:

  1. Pray for a time of rest tomorrow, as well as an opportunity to connect with the people in Mexico

  2. Pray for our morning pour, and the crew helping us

  3. Pray for Trigo y Miel's youth group, which has weekly meeitings on Saturday afternoons.

Here are some areas of thanksgiving:

  1. We are on schedule and working well on the project and with each other

  2. Our first week has gone by with minor setbacks

  3. Dr. Phillippy arrived today! Praise God for his safe travel

Praise God for His faithfulness. Thanking God that despite many challenges, the forms were made ready for the pour! We know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. May God give you boldness to share with those around you the hope to which you have been called. Praying the bridge you have designed and constructed will be holy ground; and that, as it provides functionality to allow folks to cross a physical chasm, that it will serve as a visual representation of the cross and it’s capacity to allow us to spiritually cross over from death to life by a restored relationship with God. Praise be to God for His indescribable gift of Christ Jesus. Well don…
