A Strong Foundation

And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. (Matthew 7:25)

We entered the worksite on a time crunch, but we came ready to get things done. Our team of concrete pourers planned to arrive by 12 p.m., so that meant that our team had to be ready before they arrived. At 11:58 p.m., all the rebar was fastened, and our team had pulled out of the pit. The team that was brought in to help with the pour was a huge blessing, finishing the concrete for the foundation in a few hours.

During the second half of the day, while the concrete was being poured, our team worked on assembling the pieces needed for the next sections of the wall. We hope that by the end of tomorrow, most of our walls will be ready for a Friday pour.

That being said, we cut today's work short in the afternoon, wrapping up in time for the school's Mother's Day celebration. Mother's Day, which is always held on the 10th of May here, is a big deal, especially in schools. We got to watch all of the students from the school perform different dances and musical numbers for their mothers, which was a great time of cultural learning and appreciation.

So, while we lost about an hour and a half of working time, it was a worthy use of our time. Especially because we got to join the crew members who have been helping us as they watched their children perform with their families. Seeing all of those families there was a great reminder of who we're serving, and why. It's more than just a bridge.

Here are some ways you can pray for us today:

  1. Some of our team members are feeling slightly under the weather, so pray that clears up soon.

  2. Pray for the families in attendance at the event today, and that they would feel cared for by Trigo y Miel's work.

  3. Pray for continued efficiency as we continue through the week

Here are some areas of thanksgiving:

  1. Our local help has continued to be fantastic, and our relationships have continued to grow with them

  2. MC3, the other church group there with us, has been increasingly looking for ways to care for us throughout the day

  3. We are very thankful for mothers, and the gift they are to all of us

Feliz Dia de las Madres!
